ACEGrid® Reinforced Embankment for a Road Widening Project in Cai Dam Geleximco Urban Area, Ha Long City, Vietnam

Cai Dam Geleximco urban area is located in a prime location on Hoang Quoc Viet Street, in Bai Chay ward, Ha Long, Quang Ninh.
Here, the physical infrastructure and transport infrastructure are synchronously planned, convenient for tourists to move to sightseeing tours, and urban residents to move to the suburbs and other provinces.

Because the project is located in a prime location, the area for internal roads is limited, so the project investor had agreed to use the geocell earth retaining wall to overcome this. However, after learning about the Geogrid-Reinforced Structure (called GRS), they switched to the GRS solution to replace their previous solution.

The final design of the project uses the ACEGrid®-reinforced earth retaining wall with a height of 5.5 m to 8.9 m. The facing of GRS is formed by ACEGrid^® wrap-around with ACESandbag™, which is conducive to rapid vegetation growth. The slope of the structure is 1:0.2, which helps to maximize the space on top of the GRS. Also, the inner drainage layer of GRS is formed by ACEDrain™, which can help drain the groundwater quickly after rain and enhance the stability of this ACEGrid^®-reinforced structure.

The construction of the ACEGrid^®-reinforced earth retaining wall is really simple, and the economic efficiency is superior to other solutions. Although the construction area is limited, the road itself has been constructed with excellent quality by using the ACEGrid^®-reinforced structure. Currently, the structural surface has a completely green natural, environmental-friendly appearance, which perfectly meets the rigorous requirements of the project.
