An old channel regulation engineering using traditional construction method located in Lankeng Village, Miaoli County, encountering the problems of slope erosion after a period of time and rain wash because of using an old drainage structure.

When the rain wash starts to erode the damaged slope, the channel would become closer to the road and cause more dangers tothe traffic and jeopardize the life safety of passersby.

In order to protect the eroded slope, the ACEFormer^® Vegetation type was the best solution, not only for slope protection but also for the environmental greening. ACEFormer^® geotextile mattresses would cut the single fabric into small squares for making vegetation growth; while the double layer fabrics would be grouted with cement mortar or concrete to form the protection cover layer.The total length of slope protection area was 51meters and the width was 4.5meters, andthe construction was finished in 2009.

At present, the ACEFormer^® geotextile mattresses remain robust and stable to protect the slope from further erosion attacks. With low cost and short construction period, ACEFormer^® geotextile mattresses are affirmed to be an efficient solution to apply for relevant engineering projects.
