Background

This case is located in the crude and peatland in Eastern Europe. Since the region of Agan River in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug in Tyumen is known to be oil-contaminated, the local Research and Design Institute for Environmental Management is carrying out series of environmental improvement and make the river ecosystem healthy.

Problem / Task

Considering the construction site is situated in a river region and the problem will be solved after treatment of the contaminated sludge, a cost-effectiveness solution is preferred rather than building a special treatment factory. Therefore, in terms of the situation, a temporary, low cost and ecological method was required.

Solution/ Design & Construction

ACETube® dewatering system is an effective and convenient solution to treat the oily sludge instead of conventional mud/pit sludge. After pumping the sludge into ACETube® tubes, the water dissipates through the fabric while the solid particles are retained with low moisture contents. The system requires simple equipment and has high adaptability for the in-situ environment but performs better dehydration function with low energy-consuming. It is especially suitable for the temporary sludge dewatering treatment. The dewatering tubes, in this case, are fabricated with ACETex® GT 70-I PP (circumference: 17.2 m; Length:10~55 m) and a total of 44 pieces was used.

Result

ACETube® dewatering system successfully treated the oily sludge and prevents the further environmental contamination. The water content in sludge after initial dehydration of four (4) to seven (7) days is about 90 percent, while the last dehydration took thirty (30) to forty-five (45) days with about 70 percent efficiency. This shown the high effectiveness of our product’s.
