The job site, located at Singda Harbor, is close to some famous attractions in Kaohsiung City. The Kaohsiung City Government planned to build a park with an ocean front platform in this harbor area to combine local character with tourism and leisure, and to link to other leisure spaces.
Problem / Task
As a planned attraction, this ocean front platform and the environment should have beautiful and delightful scenery.
Solution/ Design & Construction
The ocean front platform was constructed by wrap-around reinforced earth techniques with the usage of ACEGrid®GG geogrid, sandbags, and T-bar anchors provided by ACE Geosynthetics. The adoption of this method not only enhanced the stability of the filled earth structures, but was also covered with soil so that grass can grow on the surface to create an evergreen leisure space. Besides, the rockery in the park was built with sandy soil which is good for plant growth. Therefore, the park could be built as a green and ecological area which improved its scenery and enhance the living comfort.
The project built with landscape greening is successful. The vegetation can not only beautify the environment, adjust the temperature, improve the air quality and provide local residents with a leisure space, but also efficiently reduce carbon emissions. Through the years of development, Singda Harbor nowadays has transformed into a new modern fishing harbor with high tourism value.
